The Thinking Club about to be created
is based on the Thinking Tools developed by Edward De Bono!
The main purpose of the Club
is to give everyone interested an opportunity to practice skills of
using the tools in various situations. The main framework suggested
is Thinking Sessions
conducted in real time (via a Chat Room at the moment, and perhaps
using an Instant Messaging program later). The provisional Homepage
of the Club is located at:
http://www.its.caltech.edu/~baranovs/DBClub/
but eventually it will migrate
elsewhere.
If you would like to participate in one of the trial thinking sessions,
here are the steps to follow:
1. Read the messages 1-5 by Edward
De Bono outlining his idea of
Thinking Clubs:
http://www.its.caltech.edu/~baranovs/DBClub/messages.htm
2. Sign up for a free Yahoo! ID which will allow you to get access to
Yahoo! Groups. You can follow instructions on
http://www.its.caltech.edu/~baranovs/DBClub/access.htm
Then join the Yahoo Group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/debonothinking_01
(if you ONLY want to participate in thinking sessions)
and, in addition http://groups.yahoo.com/group/debonothinking_02
if you also want to exchange messages with other Members of the Club(beyond
the Thinking Sessions as such).
3. Read the Introductory Material
for the first (trial) Thinking
Session(this will be posted at debonothinking_01)
4. Post a message to debonothinking_01
stating what time is most
convenient for you (during this time you will have to be online - for
about 30-40 minutes). Since many of us live in different time zones,
please convert your local time to that of London or New York; see
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
to establish the time difference.
5. At some moment (hopefully
before the coming Friday) I will post a
message about the time of the first thinking session.
If you feel that "real-time" thinking sessions will not work
for you
(say, you Internet access is unreasonably slow, or expensive, and so
on) please let me know - we may be able to set up something based on
email only.
